Read t-nation until you know your [censored]. Don't just blindly drink kool-aide and expect to gain muscle mass. Compound lifts, lots of protein, 6 meals a day.

So should I be looking to gain muscle mass and not fat? (Which I seem to lack.)

Right now I'm trying to eat every few hours or at least drink something like kool-aide to keep the calories pumping in.

I was 5'10 130lbs from the age 17-22. I always wondered why I never gained weight even though all I ate was pizza, drink soda all the time etc. Actually, I still don't know why I didn't gain weight Most likely it was cuz I get full really fast and eat really slow.

Just this past summer I decided I really wanted to gain weight so I bought those ensure plus drinks designed for cancer patients. I think these really helped me because they got my body used to more calories and they were easy to drink. Now I can eat more food per sitting which ofcourse helps me gain. I'm now 5'10" 153lbs. I've kinda been stuck at this weight for a while, but I'm already force feeding myself basically everyday so I don't think I can handle anymore for now at least.

Anyway the point I'm making is try getting your stomache used to alot of calories with calorie dense liquids. Soon after you should be able to eat more solid food as well.
