Default Alibaba

Anyone have any experience with this site?

I've been looking into it to see if I can maybe start something small, but it is a confusing site, in my opinion.

Is it really that confusing? My uncle runs an OHS company and used it to order different jackets to his specification.

Alibaba prospectus:

http://main.ednews.hk/listedco/listc...0071023003.HTM

It's a few hundred pages long but you can get an idea how their business works, how they make money, how much money they make, and growth rates.

I'm not asking about the "business." I am asking if anyone has actually used Alibaba for some type of transaction for a business and what their experience was. I'm looking for something to sell, possibly on Ebay, but I don't know where to start.

Ah, when you said you were looking to start something small, I thought you meant a competitor.

Oh no, I meant, I want to start some kind of small business and make some money. I think I make it harder than it needs to be sometimes.

I have used aliba to source chinese manufacturers..
no results yet.

I am currently in the middle of expanding/switching my business from manufacturing to IMPORTING.
2 years ago I was 10% import from USA, 90% manufactured in Canada.
Now i am 40% imported from China,10% USA, 50% made in Canada.
in near future if I get several decent OS manufacturers I will try and switch to 80% imported.. and leave the made in Canada to "Rush" jobs only.

BTW I will probably buy a little bit of the stock that just for fun.

I am trying to source a supplier for a product idea I have. It is a tedious process using Alibaba, but probably easier than anything else out there. My biggest concern is pricing, since shipping will not be cheap and minimum orders will require a substantial capital outlay on my part.

Document your experience and post as you go... I would like to hear how Alibaba is working out for others.
