Well... I like just call pre here, but if you were on the button the 3bet would be more fine by me (all depends on the UTG player). And i would probably just check on this flop.. And if u bet u have to fold to a shove imo.

Just calling preflop is awful in my opinion. The majority of the time an overcard will flop and the raiser will c-bet. What are you going to do then? Just pitch your jacks? Also, if the flop comes 224 and the raiser leads you're going to have no clue where you're at.

thanks for the poker101 on overcards. the pre flop play really isnt very relevant. the villain wasnt even the original raiser.

Don't bet the flop. Honestly c/f probably isn't too bad here. If you can't bring yourself to do that c/c one street at most.

Bout a nine on the tension scale there, Reub

BB showed massive strength preflop and now he tells you that your beat. Fold.

Are you basically putting his range on AA, KK, QQ, AK spades?

and AQss, maybe KQss, and sets

I doubt it with those stats. you think a guy with those stats is really callin a 3 bet cold with a middle pocket pair.

[/ QUOTE ]

ahh misread the action, thought he was original raiser.
Yea, he has QQ+ and AQs+, very rarely 1010-JJ

I don't even c-bet.

Imo this is KK+ given stats. I think cold-calling in this situation in the big blind is the strongest preflop action in the game you can do with a stack < 100bb.

I just check the flop when playing well. It's a lame spot because even a tight Villain will bet here a lot to fold out our "missed AK". However, our equity when all the money goes in.... seems awful and it's hard to get to showdown cheaply.
