set urself a certain time to leave usually before a time charge if they have it at ur casino. this means u dont start thinking 'man i shoulda quit 30 mins ago' because u no u cant leave until that time has come.

This is true. Yesterday when we said we were going to leave at 6:00 pm, I was up $200. When I instead left at 3:00 am, I was down $300.

Forget about how much money you're up. Play until you feel is not fun anymore or you think you're not playing you're best poker.

I'm a purely live player (AC). I leave when I don't think the game is +EV anymore.

Reasons for this range from: bad players being replaced by good ones, I'm tired/headache, I'm having trouble focusing, etc.

If you are a 'local' player where the game will still be there tomorrow, next week, whenever - get up sooner rather than later. Come back fresh and keep at it. There are countless players that I see regularly who are +EV when they are sober/fresh, but get tired and/or start drinking and get broke. Don't be them...please don't.

And for 'what is a decent win' - it so doesn't matter. You're only getting a couple hundred hands - it just comes down to making those good decisions and figuring out if you made good value on the ones you should profit on, and if you saved money when you were beat.

Leave the table when you feel you should leave. Don't look at your chip stack.

QFT

I always know where I'm at, but generally wish I didn't because I know its affecting me subconsciously. (I'm pretty good at eyeballing chips and figuring out amounts, won a few bets at the table because of it).

The best thing to do is to set a time for yourself at which you plan to go home, but be flexible about that time if the game is either too tough to stay, or too soft to leave. Planning to play for 6 hours is good, in my opinion. Too much more and you run the risk of getting tired. Too much less, and you don't have time to take advantage of the reads you get and the image you create over the first few hours of play.

Then, when the planned time comes, unless there is some really compelling reason to stay longer, you should just go. There will be another session soon enough.

I also usually leave after getting down for a single session by more than two 100 bb buy-ins because I just don't play as well when I'm that far stuck as when I'm even or ahead for a single session. It's not so much a monetary loss-limit, so much as my own self-prescribed form of tilt prevention.

It's pretty rare to get down two full buy-ins, however, if you are in a decent live game, and you have lots of patience.

That's obviously the ideal way but a lot of people can't do it. It's also very hard to judge when EV changes or to admit you're tilting (and you can be tilting yet still +EV remember, do you still leave?). Hence imposing arbitrary rules might be the best way, just not the 1.5 buyins one that OP mentioned.
