I was not arguing to check the river. I completely agree that checking the river is a bad play and as you said it is one of the easiest rying to value bets you'll see.

The OP wanted to know if it was a scared river play. All I was trying to say was that the river card scared the villain MORE than it did/should have scared him.

it is scared because he FEARED the FLUSH and checked because he was scared.

Can't we 3bet this flop? It protects our hand. By building a bigger pot we may get looser play from this villain on the later streets. Also, he may have checked the turn denying us the big bet we hoped for?

My read was pretty solid that he was going to continue betting. When he starts aggressing he keeps going.

I agree with QE's play there of just calling. The read he had on him seemed pretty strong and it was just fine to call.
