$1000 MTT live; 89o, flop trips; Villian calls fl, trn, min raises rvr
this is an old hand from about a year ago. I'm working on being more aggressive. I'm wondering if I needed to be more aggressive here. It was early in the tournament so I did not have a reliable read.
4,000 starting stacks, 50-100 blinds. I limped with 89s in somewhat late position. The flop was A99. He checked I bet 200 and he's the only caller, pot is 800. he checked again and I bet 400 on the turn and he calls so now the pot is 1600. On the river, the board reading A99x5, no flush possible, I bet half the pot again and he min raised me. should I be worried about a bigger 9 having been slow played? or fives full? and just call? Or do I just push and if he has one of those hands that beat me, then I was doomed from the start of the hand? |

I mean id prefer an raise preflop, also what position is the villain in? With this info, calling and raising seem bad. So call.

I also like the raise PF. As played, your play was fine. Unfortunately, against any decent player, this min raise on the river indicates you are behind here. Definitely dont shove, you dont beat anything he calls with. It really looks like he is full here. I know it may be hard, but I think this is a fold still leaving you with 2/3rds of your stack early.
