Re: Things you bring to the table with you?
[ QUOTE ]
If a casino does not specifically allow firearms on its guests person, it must be posted (it is posted at NYNY, not sure about others), but, of course, all casinos are allowed to ask anyone to leave at any time for any reason, stated or not. [/ QUOTE ] Ok, that's pretty standard. Sounds like it might not do me much good if they all post, though. |

Re: Things you bring to the table with you?
They definately don't all post. I know that it is not posted at Venetian, Ballys, or Wynn. Not sure about others. My buddy from Baltimore is a gun fanatic and visits here about 5-6 times a year, and he always brings his guns with him. He got the CCW permit through the Gun Store, and carries when he's in town (though he usually doesn't bring it with him if we are only hitting up a randome casino poker room. He hangs out out the range a lot, though, and likes just shooting when he is bored.
I just have one, just for home protection: Ruger Security 6 .357 Magnum. I am not CCW licensed, but have considered it. |

[/ QUOTE ] LOL, when I opened this post, I thought this was KY jelly. Which might not be a bad idea, let the constant barrage of 3 and 4 outers come a little less painfully. |

Re: Things you bring to the table with you?
Based on all the marks I'm seeing on cards these days (mostly because of the cheap cards clubs are using) I'm looking for a card protector that does the following:
- Fits easily in my pocket (i.e. flat is best) - Covers all (or almost all) of my two cards but the cards can be seen by my opponents . - If the card is marked my opponent can't see the marks. - Is easy to remove. Your clear plastic card protector that can only show marks when viewed from above idea seems to fit my needs. Earlier in the thread you wrote: "A card protector that's a sheet of polycarbonate doped for a high index (you can't see most kinds of marking through it)" Immediately above you wrote: "We made the card protector ourselves. If you've ever looked through an old and/or handmade window pane where the thickness is uneven, you know it's easy to see straight-on, but everything's all screwed up when you look at an angle. The card protector works on the same theory." I looked up polycarbonate sheets and found this. I'm not sure I want to order a 2' by 2' sheet in order to make a 3" by 5" protector. My question is are there easier ways of getting a small piece of the right material (or a similar material) in a conventional store (e.g., Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Staples). All help appreciated. ~ Rick |

Re: Things you bring to the table with you?
That's the stuff - their sheets look pretty thick though. I bought mine at a local hardware store. Other clear plastics should work too. We then dipped it in some sort of resin with a high index of refraction that the optics guy had. I don't know what it was, but I bet smearing a thin layer of 5 minute epoxy on one side of the poly sheet would work if you don't mind it being a bit yellowed and having a few bubbles. Some people who know chemistry and materials can probably chime in with better options.
Hope this helpes. |

Re: Things you bring to the table with you?
1. Cash.
2. Patience. 3. An understanding that long shot hands are made on the river more than we actually think they are or think they should be. 4. An understanding that individual session results are meaningless. We're more interested in results over time. 5. A relaxing feeling knowing that I'm not going to get 86'd just for playing a winning game. |

1. Session $
2. A Pen/Pocket Notebook (for writing down most hands i play so i can reflect later without blemishes of detail) 3. My Zune (loaded with vids and hours of music. all in case i get a boring table) 4. A full pack of gum (generally ppl sittin next to me have terrible ass breath...so i offer lots of gum to ppl for my own well-being) 5. My patience with a smile (do i really need to elaborate on how much further this will get u?) |

Re: Things you bring to the table with you?
I always take a book in case i have to wait for the game i want. It also stops me from wandering over to the blackjack tables.
