Re: Help me stop razor bumps
Me and pretty much all of my friends all got a Gillette Mach 3 in the mail on our 18th birthdays. I tried it, switched immediately, and have been using it since. Whenever I'm stuck using a disposable single blade, it hurts, I'm more likely to cut myself, and the shave is worse.
If you don't care enough to get a wet setup, then at least try a multiblade. The refills are the really expensive part, just trying it out isn't too bad. |

Re: Help me stop razor bumps
+1 electric shaver.
I switched to one about 2 years ago and I can't imagine going back (my skin is a wuss too, quite sensitive). The first few sessions suck but after that it's smooth sailing. |

Re: Help me stop razor bumps
razor bumps are caused by cutting the hair short and into a sharp point, hence a blade with more blades will tend to increase the number of razor bumps you get.
don't go apeshit shaving places where you get the bumps. just get it pretty close and be done. maybe try an electric shaver. |

Re: Help me stop razor bumps
+ (Nivea sensitive shaving gel) + Be really careful around the adams apple to shave with the grain of the hair. For me, above the adam's apple the hair grows down. For whatever reason, about halfway down the adam's apple it starts growing up instead of down. Shaving the down hairs down and the up hairs up has been huge. |

wtf is a wet setup? [/ QUOTE ] badger hair brush + great shaving cream (taylor of old bond) + safety razor = awesomeness. in fact just go here and browse around: http://www.classicshaving.com/ this has been done a bunch so i'll stop now, but honestly, its night and day. All of you who love the mach 3....after using a safety razor for the last couple months, i tried a couple strokes with a mach 3 and i felt like i was ripping the hair out of my face..... seriously try it, you'll love it..... |

Re: Help me stop razor bumps
The best thing is a wet shave setup, with a good razor like suggested. Usually that costs about 100% for real badger hair brush/razor. If you dont want to go that rout, go for a good mach 3, or somethign similar, soem mink oil shave lotion, and shave in a hot shower after washing your face.

[ QUOTE ] Shave with a good 3-5 blade sharp razor using upward strokes /thread [/ QUOTE ] end thread except for the fact that it needs to be corrected. dont shave upward. shave in the direction of growth. [/ QUOTE ] I've never understood this. Every time I shave downward, I still look like I just woke up with stubble when I'm done. Must go upward, and if you do it right, and take care, you'll be fine, and your wife will even do you sometimes. too. |
