Gagne's running bad. He struck out a batter per inning, walked less than 4 per 9, and only allowed 3 HR all game.

JAs post is exactly what you said to me a month ago. Gagme has blown more than 2 games. You said more than what you've said here back then. Lopez has always had the suck so there is no need. The way you defended Gagme in the Season thread, you married him. Now go email the Red Sox about Eck like I told you to back then!

gg indians. well done.

MDC sucked it up worse than Gagne. And if the same situation arises any other time in this series I really hope it is Gagne out there and not Lopez. Lopez is/was worse than Gagne and, if anybody is to blame, it is him. Gagne is not the sole person to blame. In 5 innings BOS couldn't push one run across.

Manny is one of the coolest guys around, but he's got to stop pausing to admire his homeruns, especially when they just clear the fence.

Hit ball, run fast, don't tick off picther. It's pretty basic.

[/ QUOTE ]

Not only did it barely clear the fence but it was about fifteen feet from being in play off the deep center field wall. I guess modern players would rather look cool than hustle right out of the box every time.

Look at Ortiz. Sure he runs hard on the ground ball in the early middle inning avoiding the double play but he knew he had to run hard the moment he hit the ball. Later in the eighth (or was it the ninth) inning he leads off an hits it hard to second base and stands there watching for half a second. Then the ball bounces off the second baseman's chest landing six feet away and he throws Ortiz out by half a step. He's easily safe if he ran hard from the moment he hits the ball.

I know I'm not a regular in this thread but I simply had to write my frustrations out. Plus I was curious if I could hear Joe Tall scream "Gag-me".

don't get why gagne is getting all the blame.

[/ QUOTE ]

Cuz he sucks french canadian balls? How's that for a reason?

[/ QUOTE ]

This game is on Schilling. He couldn't get out of the 5th and the bullpen isn't deep enough to overcome that.

Wikipedia disagrees with you.

"Gagné's postseason ERA with the Red Sox, who have advanced to the American League Championship Series, is currently 13.50. In the 11th inning of Game 2 of the ALCS, Gagne reverted to form, giving up two earned runs in 1/3 inning becoming resposible for the 13-6 loss."

The Nation has their scapegoat.

I think Westbrook is a lot more likely to get shelled than Dice-K. Olney referenced this earlier today: "The Red Sox, by the way, are hitting .406 against Game 3 starter Jake Westbrook in his last 25 innings against Boston."

Actually on second thought everyone is probably hitting .406 off Dice-K...
