"When all is said and done, more is said than done." Unknown. I got it from the interview of a chess grandmaster.

"The best things are good habits formed in youth." Aristotle I think. He also said, "We are what we repeatedly do. Therefore, excellence is not an act, but a habit."

If I always appear prepared, it is because before entering an undertaking, I have meditated long and have foreseen what might occur. It is not genius where reveals to me suddenly and secretly what I should do in circumstances unexpected by others; it is thought and preparation.

I don't any quote/aphorism has helped, but this is how I try to live my life.

"Do what thou wilt"
-Mr. Crowley

NP: Murder Squad - Disturbing The Freaks

Unlike most who misuse that quote, I've read the Book Of Law and do know that's taken out of the context and Crowley didn't mean it to be taken as "do what you want", but I still misuse it on purpose as I think that's the only useful line on that [censored] book.

This might have been said, but my Dad always reminds me that "practice makes perfect" and you can't really argue with that.

"Speak softly and carry a big stick."

T. Roosevelt on foreign policy at the time, though i think it has much more broad applications. Be able to back up what you don't have to say.

Actually, practice makes permanent. Perfect practice makes perfect permanent.

My coach used to drill that into my head when I didn't want to practice and was being sloppy.
