Variance: Weird thing that just happened at work

I just answered the phone, and a guy wanted to talk to my boss. I asked him for his name, and he said his first name, which happens to be my first name. My name is a bit unusual(Bart), so I was a bit surprised, especially because the guy just said his first name, like I would do if I was calling the office, and his voice sounded reasonably similar to mine. I'm now wondering if that's another guy named Bart, or if my future self just called my boss to warn him about something, and if so, why wouldn't my future self just tell me about it?

u just gave me an idea for an awesome practical joke.

record like ur friends conversation for over a month. then compile some conversation. like hi, can i speak to blabla....

then call ur friend a play the tape. he will be like huh?

A couple friends of mine tried something like that (the future self thing). They had two friends with very similar-sounding voices, one of whom was both spacey and a bit imaginative. They had friend 1 call this guy (friend 2) when he was asleep, late at night. So he wakes up, still groggy, and hears someone claiming to be his future self talking to him. He tells himself to keep working on a particular song (he's in a band) because "It makes us famous one day." The next day, the band is sitting around and the guy comes in and says, "You guys will never believe this..." To this day I think he believes it actually happened. The song has yet to make him/them famous.

This has already been done on Howard Stern and distributed over the internet pretty widely. FWIW - it took him about 2 seconds to figure it out.

You most likely have a double. Given his voice sounds the same as yours, you're also probably physically identical. Jose Saramago explains the phenomenon in his novel 'The Double'. Nothing good can came of this.

Actually, future Bart didn't say very much. He was a bit of an [censored], truth be told. I'm pretty sure that if your future self is an [censored], that's a beat. I mean, really...what does it say about my future self if I'm not willing to at least be civil with my present self?
