Default Why 3.5BB PreFlop Raise?

The standard PFR from these forums tends to be 3.5BB (instead of 3BB, which seems more common in games I play). Can someone post a link to a thread where this is discussed?

Also, can you tell me what key words and parameters you used in your search? Thanks!

I didn't search for this so I can't help you there, but this should help answer your questions: 2+2 Betting Discussion

In a standard blind structure where the sb is 1/2 the bb, 3.5 bb is a pot-size raise.

I have a question a long these lines. To the OP a 3.5BB is a pot size raise and usually shows more strength that a 3BB raise. I just don't get how 3.5BB is the pot? You have the SB at .5BB, you have the BB at 1BB thats only 1.5BB in the pot? IF you include your call which is 1BB thats still only 2.5BB.

No Fizzle, Kurn - Thanks for your replies - they answered my question.

VLV - "Pot Size Raise" means calling the bet and then raising by an amount equal to the pot. But, it has to be done as a single bet. In this case, it equals 1BB Call + 2.5BB (new pot size) = 3.5BB. A Pot Sized Bet, makes it 2:1 for your opponent to Call.
