Default V for Vendetta

OK, so normally I wouldn't even bother looking into this flick. But, it has Portman, and the mask is really cool imo. So, does it have a shot?

From the previews, it looks like they wanted to make a movie version of 1984, but couldn't get the rights. I give it a meh as an initial impression.

fuRy prediction states this movie will blow, but will be watched merely due to Portman.

The comic was written by Alan Moore, writer of some other comic-to-book movies (From Hell, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen). If you're into comic books, the name Alan Moore actually brings about thoughts of veneration. He's definitely thought of as one of the best writers of comics alive, and it's unfortunate that the movies that get made out of these books haven't turned out as well as they could have. The Wojcowski's (SP?) did make The Matrix, but they also made Reloaded and Revolutions, so it's hard to say how this will turn out. I'm going to guess it's an average flick, probably good if you're looking for an action flick.

I'll see it opening weekend.

Do you guys normally look at review sites before you go see a movie on opening weekend like this? I usually just go by my own feelings, maybe read reviews later. I guess I'm alone?

You actually like the gay little opera mask? What kind of action hero wears an opera mask? I thought it looked good other than the mask.
