Think about it, why would you?

That's exactly what I mean. But I think you're over-simplifying things.

Do you know how many people would come out of the woodwork to ask you for money? Family, friend, old friends, people you don't even know. The hassle would be enormous. Plus your friends and family would have difficulty seeing you as the same person. Even if they don't ask you for money the "Triumph won the lottery and that selfish SOB won't even toss a N 100K" thoughts will be eating away at them. None of the people in your personal life will be the same.

Don't get me wrong, I would get money to my family/close friends as well, but it would be over time and I would find someway to do it (make them buy shares in some BS corporation then just give them ridiculous dividends or something) so they wouldn't figure out it was from the lottery.

Now come the scam artists. Lottery winners are typically such easy targets for investment scams it isn't funny. Even if you are savvy enough to sniff them out (and trust me, you don't know as much as you think you do, these people are slick), it'll still be a huge hassle if people know who you are.

And regarding "Plus, its not easy to hide being rich if you plan on enjoying your wealth.", that's a lot easier than you think. If you start enjoying your wealth and people don't know where the money comes from, they won't ask questions and they won't ask for money. They'll gossip behind your back about it, but they won't do a whole lot more than that because the don't really know how much money you have. Buy a boat? Could be credit for all they know. 2M house? Could be zero down and a huge mortgage. They don't know.

Anyway, trust me, you're better off keeping it quiet.

Now throw a N 100K for this advice when you win.

lol, my wife is all excited about the drawing. Little does she know there is a better chance of her magically transforming into a hot 19 y/o than winning the lottery.

Actually, what I would do is form a charitable remainder trust. That way, I won't pay any taxes on it. There are many estate planning tools out there, so I would advise the winner to consult with some good counsel before going public.

Good luck, BBV!

Just head over to your local grocery store and buy some quick picks. Each quick pick is $1, and you can check your numbers at calottery.com (it's the official site)

I have probably like 5-10 tickets lying around ranging from $1-$10.

-EV ftw! It gives you something to hope for. At least you have a one in a 3405834554345349 chance of winning $150 mil which most people don't have.

I'd recommend that people buy a $1 ticket. Just for the random luck sack ness.

I've heard of companies that somehow buy every single number in a lottery once it becomes +EV to do so. I'm not sure if the annuity is +EV at the moment (~ 1:175,000,000) on a $325,000,000 jackpot before taxes, or if it would be worthwhile to buy out a lottery for an annuity payment, but I'd like to know if these companies exist.
