Default Boeing?

Does anyone think now would be a good time to buy Boeing stock with the impending release of the 787 and orders already filled until 2012? It seems promising, any of you gurus have some thoughts on them?

I've never looked at the chart, but I imagine it's all priced in to the stock. There's still the flight testing to do, and buying now would be a bet on all that going smoothly and to (the very tight) schedule.

Trading on news is rarely profitable for private investors.

I honestly know very little about investing (hence I am here). What kind of analysis would you do when evaluating whether to buy a stock like Boeing? What do you mean look at the chart? Sorry for sounding so dumb.

The 787 was ahead of the A350 something like 10-1 in orders before the Paris air show, and not much has changed. The market expects Boeing to make a ton of money over the next five years or so due to this huge lead. If they stumble even a little bit, Boeing's stock could take a big hit. You need to figure out what Boeing is really worth, what your risks are, and what your reward will be if Boeing executes properly.

There is a sticky at the top of the forum with suggested reading material, the Intelligent Investor for one talks about how to value a company. My recommendation is don't buy individual stocks until you've read all those books, and even then, think very hard about putting your money in an index fund. You won't beat the market, but you won't trail it and you won't lose to shady advisors or high fees. Good luck.
