Iverson is about 5ft 11in and 160 lbs....he'd get killed in the NFL even at his position(QB).

Apparently Michael Vick is also a giant in the dog-fighting world. Does that count?

Seasons are getting longer. A baseball/football guy would miss too much football if his team made the playoffs today, and no other sport combination is even slightly plausible. Teams are also getting more finicky about guys doing dangerous stuff in the offseason. Finding a player who could do both is easy, tons of guys are multi-sport stars. Finding two teams that are OK with the deal is likely impossible.

I think it will happen eventually, there are some guys right now with that type of potential, Julios Peppers may have been a solid role-player for an NBA team, nothing compared to his NFL potential but he could have contributed. I always thought Charlie Ward was going to retire from basketball and give the NFL a shot, he had a ton of potential at FSU. There are occasionally guys that played minor league baseball, couldn't break into the bigs, and end up moving on to the NFL. Drew Henson got paid a lot of money to play baseball, never made it to the bigs on a regular basis, then entered the NFL draft. So I guess if minor league baseball counts there are a few guys that have done this as recently as a couple years ago.

that's why the guy has to be so good at both sports that both teams have to accept the deal - otherwise they risk losing him to the other sport altogether. sure, there are guys who could be capable in both leagues - think Brian Jordan. But you'd have to be as good or better than Deion or Bo to get away with two-sport stardom now.

There are certainly guys with two-sport talent... Iverson is one, and apparently A-Rod was attracting attention from pro scouts in three different sports in high school.

But there's so much money in one sport nowadays that a player would have to just want to do it for ego, or something... and none of the teams would really be crazy about having a part-time star anyway.

What would Iverson have done in the NFL? WR, CB, RB? KR?

Iverson is apparently the best high school QB in Virginia history, and that includes Michael Vick.

Although Jason Robinson is godlike in both codes, yes, it must be cheating.
