Cool/Interesting New Hobbies...

I am in my last semester of college, and I have a sweet schedule with no Thursday or Friday classes, and limited class on my other three days.

Therefore, I have a ton of free time on my hands. I will probably play a very little amount of poker, but I am looking for cool new hobbies/activities that will take up my time and hopefully make me more cultured or well-rounded as an individual.

So far I have come up with some volunteer work, which I already do, and will probably become more involved in. Also, I will probably start investing a bit more heavily and mess around with equity, debt, derivatives, etc.

That's all I've got. Suggestions would be appreciated, as well as where to go to start getting involved (websites, books, people to talk to, etc.)

I suggest picking up Golf. Its something that will take atleast a semester to get half decent at and you will enjoy it.

What about pool? Most colleges that I've been to have a couple tables, if not a full blown pool hall in their student union. You'll meet a lot of new people and pool is wicked fun.

I guess I had not thought about monetary investment. I guess up to 5k, but that's about as high as I want to go. Ideally, I could find something that doesn't cost a lot of money, but is still satisfying...

A sport would be cool, but I should add that I live in Michigan, so we are looking at cold weather for a large majority of the semester, so I won't be able to golf, SCUBA (both of which I would love to do)

Recreational ice hockey. I started playing two years ago and it's the best thing I've even done for myself.

if you like pool, but aren't very good right now, give it a chance. its much more fun when you can run tables and hit bank shots consistently...
