Default Tell me about the Wynn...

I have heard a lot of good things about the Wynn, but I am curious for those who have been there, what separates it from any other resort in Vegas?

Aside from the fact that it is new and the most up-to-date, are there other features that you feel you cannot find at other casinos?

EDIT: I am referring to the entire resort, not just the casino itself.

The standard rooms are small, but they have everything you need - small couch, table, desk. They have lcd flat panels everywhere. Not great quality but better than the standard Philips hotel model tv you find almost everywhere else. The rest of the furnishings, bedding, etc are top of the line. Bathrobe and slippers are supplied. Take out food is available very late at night. Staff is friendly throughout.

The $1-3 NL unlimited buyin plays way different than the other $1-2 games I played in.

Had 2 or 3 big stack gunslingers at the table most of the time. Plan on 10-30 BB min on most hands and lots more fairly often. The tailgunners like to come in with big stacks and push everybody around. If you can't adjust or don't like playing for your stack quite often, don't go there.

I loved it til I lost my whole $600 roll (that I had with me) on one hand.

Actually still loved it. Coulda been up $1500 just as easy.

The standard room that I stayed in at Wynn was huge. It was the largest standard room that I have stayed at in Vegas, maybe any other hotel for that matter. It might not be as large as the rooms in the all suite hotels like the Rio, Venetian or the Hotel at Mandalay Bay.

I think as far as high-end resort/casinos go, there are two choices on the strip, Bellagio or Wynn. Everything else is a step down. I give the nod to the Wynn in that everything did just seem fresher at the Wynn. (I had the opportunity to stay at both within about six weeks of each other in the summer of 2005.) (I have stayed at a wide range of hotels in Vegas, including Mandalay Bay, the Hotel at Mandalay Bay, Bally's, Caesar's, Flamingo, Harrahs, Rio, etc.) I liked the plasma screen TVs which were fed actual HD signals. (The Hotel had wide screen HD-ready TVs in the suite, but if I recall correctly, only SDTV signals!)

The Wynn is my favorite by a little bit over the Bellagio. I have to admit that I did not take advantage of non-room resort offerings at either hotel other than the pool, although I have no doubt that Wynn is top notch in that category.

The casino itself is very nice, and up-to-date. I tended to prefer the poker room at Wynn over that at Bellagio. (Parking is much more convenient to the Wynn poker room than that at Bellagio.)

The casino/resort has a general, positive attitude/feel about it. The staff tend to go the extra mile for guests, present themselves as happy. The feel of people/guests in the Wynn also tends to be of a positive nature.

Staying/playing in a place that is overall "positive" I think makes this my favorite room. Sure there are always places that will kick their tales in some thing or another, but overall the place is sweet.

The place is spotless. Everything that is around you tends to be better/higher quality than most places. They have their competition when it comes to the most expensive, nicest, neatest things, but all in all the whole place is like an upgrade from the average (or even above average).

Example; last time I was there I flew in and forgot to pack a lighter. So there I was bothering the waitress for matches (cheap crappy matches that they carry) every time I wanted to take a break... When the chip runner/brush (I forget his name, but TT mentions him in some of his posts) appears with a nice electronic "torch" from the gift shop. Hands it to me, "no charge". I am still using that lighter...

I all the times I have spent there, I have always been treated well, almost special. And that was before a single dollar ever changed hands.

You guyz are tough customers! I was sold on the oversized and overstuffed poker chairs! I think that they should vibrate and massage though.

Well, everything is relative. Compared to the Venetian, which costs about the same, the rooms are smaller. I didn't say too small, just small compared to some of the other high end hotels in town. I never felt like I needed more space. The Bellagio is nice, but I like the newer Caesar's tower rooms more. I get the sense that at the Bellagio, they are not all that willing to accomodate you. Unlike the Wynn, where it seems like they really want your business. I haven't stayed at Caesar's in a year, so I don't know how prevailing attitudes are now.

I forgot to mention one other important thing about the Wynn. The poker room wait list is on the room tv's. So you can call down and have your name put on the list then sit around in your room until your name gets near the top. I don't know of any other hotel that has that.

If you're looking for a reason not to stay at the Wynn, it's hard to find one.
