If they took out the mask the fans would absolutely revolt. This is like saying Superman's powers are stupid or that Batman's origin sucked. It is an integral part of the story.

Oh and Portman is excellent in every flick she is in

[/ QUOTE ]

Whoa

I don't remember how she was in The Professional, I thought she was decent to good in Garden State, and I thought she was spectacularly bad in the Star Warses.

[/ QUOTE ]

I thought she was great in the Professional. And in fairness everyone was bad in the recent Star Warses.

Diff strokes I guess. I think she is tallented and captures each role she plays very well. In the Star Warses (sp?) she did what she could given the direction she was getting.

Then make it look less stupid. I'm sure they'd sell more tickets if they pissed off the comic book fans anyway.

She was awful in star wars. You can't really blame it all on the director even if the dialogue and scenes he used/shot were spectacularly horrible. A certain amount of blame goes on him for sure, but there have been many great actors who have given solid performances in horribly directed movies.

From the previews, it looks like they wanted to make a movie version of 1984, but couldn't get the rights. I give it a meh as an initial impression.

[/ QUOTE ]

Would that be a movie version of a movie version of 1984 ?

This thing looks like it's just going to be awful (in proportion to the budget and how much they're promoting it..etc.).

Down the road lies the LXG

The writing and directing were so bad in Star Wars I can't blame any of the actors involved.

Portman does usually pick great roles.

Star Wars wasn't just horribly directed. It was horrible everything. I thought all the actors looked really uncomfortable.

Also, I'd like an example of a movie that sucked as bad as the recent Star Wars' did...but had a lead actor that made you go "Wow!" I don't know of one.

I highly recommend the graphic novel this movie is based on.

[/ QUOTE ]

You're talking about a comic book, right?

Calling comic books "graphic novels" is almost as gay as that mask.
