You need like 3 to 1 with 12 outs and 1 card to come. I think a block bet is fine here if you don't thinm the chances of him raising are too high and he would bet more if you checked. About .85 would be the odds you need. I probably would have bet about $1 and expected/hoped to make up the difference plus more with bet on the river if I hit. (Plus if he happens to fold to the double barrel it's a nice little bonus.)

This is such a horrible board to double barrel on, no one is ever folding an ace here. It's best to just check/call the turn and c/f the river unless you hit.

Playing these kinds of hands is something I've been struggling to get a handle on. The thinking here is a bit strange to me though.

Pot: $1.75
Bet: $1.25
Call: $1.25

So that's 1.25 to win 3, which is obviously nowhere near our odds to hit. BUT, if someone really can't fold an ace, then we will easily win the other $2 we need to make this happen. In fact, we should be able to win even more than that. Coupled with the possibility that villain does fold, because he could be calling with something other than an ace, it doesn't seem to me that this bet is so bad.
