Deductive reasoning should figure it out.

It's got to be someone famous that we would all recognize in a pic of him as president. That right there narrows things down. Then it's got to be someone before photography was widespread (thus pre 1900) but probably after the turn of the 19th century, most likely in the middle, near the civil war.

The person who fits that best is Chester Arthur.

I can recognise probably 8 presidents, them being Bush jr, Clinton, Bush sr, Kennedy, Lincoln, Washington, Nixon and Reagan.

So out of them the answer must be Lincoln.
