Re: New Line I have been trying: SB in three handed pot
You should often bet a flop that you were thinking of check-raising. Don't get into the habit of doing everything the same way every time. The times that you do check-raise I think you must follow through with a bet on the turn unless your knowledge of your opponent tells you not to.
btw: CA's 20 game is going to be a LOT looser than Bellagio's 15 (generally speaking). |

Re: New Line I have been trying: SB in three handed pot
I play quite a bit in this same 8-16 game and I believe given the player you described that continuing to bet is the way to go. Since they are weak they will call down many different draws and hands that you beat while being completely oblivous to the odds they are getting. It is also less likely they will try anything tricky like semibluff raising since they are weak.
There are some players I may try this line on. Do you know who Eddy is? He is Mexican, gotee, talks a lot, very Lag. If I check-raised him and he just called I would would just check-call down here. I would prefer he just three bet me on the flop and then I would know he didn't have a hand. He still may not have a hand but might be setting you up for a turn raise. He also loves to bluff, especially if someone shows weakness. I love the 8-16 here. |

Re: New Line I have been trying: SB in three handed pot
Thanks for the responses. I know the correct play a majority of the time is betting on the turn, but the type of players I am doing this to will rarely bet the turn without a big hand. So I can easily fold the turn if bet into, and I might induce a bluff on the river by checking.
I am by no means doing this against a strong and tricky player who can bet the turn as a bluff. I am auto betting almost any turn card against that type of player. |

Re: New Line I have been trying: SB in three handed pot
On the flop I think you should sometimes bet out & sometimes go for the check-raise.If you feel sure that the last player will bet almost automatically if checked to,then the check-raise is best.Like the others said, after check-raising the flop, you should bet the turn.

seems like a good idea to ignore the advice you received and proceed blindly ahead with your weak strategy. Giving infinite odds to draw seems wise.

Re: New Line I have been trying: SB in three handed pot
I probably shouldn't share this, but what the heck.....
I put in appx 40-50 hours late this year in the Wynn and Bellagio 15-30. In the tables where the situation you describe occurs, I basically led out the flop every single time....even with one over. I held nothing most of the time and both players folded almost every time. The way you are playing it isn't necessary. However, if you do cr the flop, I agree with all the other posters that you absolutely must lead the turn. Finally, when a safe card falls on the river, opponent dependant, I often check to induce a bluff. Some of these guys cannot resist taking a stab at a pot. BTW, I don't think any of these plays would work well in Los Angeles $15-30 games, but you rarely get into that situation anyway(only 1 limper). |
