I try to keep my cash roll apart from my tourney roll but I think one of the difficulties in going with that approach is that if you're successful at tournaments and move up the levels quickly, you tend to look at the money int he lower limit cash games as less significant - which affects your cash game (i.e. looser play, etc). At the moment I'm focusing on developing my cash game so I maintain a roll only for that on Stars. I do play some tournaments but I tend to use ad-hoc funds for that on ptehr sites and if I do play on Stars, I'll bring money in specifically to play that particular tournament - cashing out if I do place in the money.

i advise u to continue at 25nl for a while, unless u know ur only 2.5 because of variance after analysing ur hands and u have more experience before moving to fulltilt, even though u have br

40 buyins and people talk about "taking shots"?
Just play 50NL it's not that different from 25NL imo. If you drop below 1500 you can consider moving back down.

I ran at 2ptbb/100 at 25nl for my first 50k hands.

I starting beating up on the limit for the next 25k hands and then moved up.

Give it some time.
