wow this is a sick bad paper. 1500-2000 words. 1539 ship it crucial =/ i didnt even use any notes/citations at all even though the prompt clearly states that footnotes should be in there. not really sure wtf kind of footnotes i am supposed to have when i am just working with a novel and my brain and i didnt use any quotes or waste time summarizing any of the book. probably my fault for actually reading the book instead of my standard skim it and then quote obsessively and add bad explanations to go w/ the quotes.

the weird thing is that of the 2 prompts one is basically all about [censored] from lecture/boring readings that would def require a lot of citations but the second one that i did is just about this novel so im hoping that the fact that the paper turned out to be pretty easy to write is some sort of reward for actually reading the book since as far as i can tell there was basically no other reason to waste my time reading it unless i was doing my paper on this prompt. and i gave up pretty precious time reading the book that i could have spent watching tv at commerce instead.

also brag: first time i have finished a paper by 8pm since probably high school. usually i havent even started reading the book that im supposed to be talking about at this time.

PJ and Sailboats...nice to meet both of you. Sailboats, I remember playing with you on Thurs night when I first got there, and then you sat to my right on Fri night before I left the game. I tried to make a move on you HU OOP on J34 flop w 76 and you pwnt me on the turn.

There really isn't any comparison between Commerce and any other place I've played, which include all Bay area and Vegas casinos for mid limit hold em. The dealers were great, the floorpersons helpful and friendy. The free food is awesome. Oh, and the games were pretty good too. Where else do you have 5 40-80 games to choose from?

I got to play with both "The Mongoose" and Coco. The Mongoose's wife had to go into her purse about 4 times for rebuys for him. Highlight of the trip was the table mentioned in Private Joker's other post. I had been eyeing a table change for the last hour or so, and when the last fish busted at our otherwise tough table I drew an Ace an immediately chose the next table over because I saw Ratty Wool Cap Guy in Seat 7 from the night before. Well it turns out he's like the 5th best player at this table. Seat 9 is a n incredibly drunk fratboy tool, who is playing about 50% of his hands and all for a raise. He can barely sit up straight. He's saying really mean and inappropriate things to wool cap guy, like "Dude, how old are you? You look really old" and "Are you homeless?" He tells seat 6 that he has "succulent [censored]" and that they're bigger than his girlfriend's. He gets into a half hour argument with seat 7 on who's the better foosball player, and we learn that Seat 7 used to be a professional foosball player(wtf). Fratboy even game us complimentary tickets to the gunshow! This guy was grade A dbag. The whole table is salivating and he goes on to incinerate about 3 racks. I finally busto him on the following hand. 1 limper, Fratboy raises, I call in SB w A3hh. BB calls. Flop is Jh 4x, 5x, checked to fratboy and I decide to make a move at this dry board w my gutterball. My image is squeaky clean at this point and fratboy has folded to my checkraises 3 times already. BB foils my plan and 3 bets, fratboy calls, I call. Turn is Kh, BB bets, fratboy raises and I call. river is the lovely Qh and I insta fire. BB looks really confused, mucks, and I get to 3 bet fratboy. My 18 hour saturday session went from +$2700 to -$600 and ended at +$2k.

Good stuff Bdaddy, great post. One sidenote though is that fratboy i think is a regular at the 10/20 NL.

Oh and if that was the hand im think about? 20/40... about 3 am and it was about to be short handed. I think i raised in late position and you only call BB.
Flop J34

and you C/R... i was like what!? and i called
Turn X

you bet and i raised [i knew you were a TAG and either had it or didnt]
then you just called and i was like... maybe i read this wrong

River X
you checked... i bet
you folded

KQo is good!!!!
I was wondering what did you have? straight draw?

wow im good at nl. it probably wont be as fun when i start losing when i get it in with the best of it (this will happen when i move up obv). i honestly dont remember getting it in ahead and losing yet and ive only been retardo coolered like twice for stacks that i can remember. won like 3.5 buyins in 400 hands today naturally. i have no idea how people put in so many hands online, i am bored to death after only an hour and i ran great.

*edit*
just looked at lifetime party/stars stats for this computer to make myself feel good. now if only i could win in live games that are 500x softer =/

DeuceKicker,
Change things up if you're not having fun and playing well. Often those two things go hand in hand. Try a new casino, new limit, new type of game.
Post some hands on 2+2. Take a break from poker. Maybe you will decide that poker is not the best hobby for you.

After I lose I try to think through the session and determine what happened. This prevents me from crying on the way home and helps me sleep well.

Did I make any big mistakes?
What was the EV lost by making an incorrect play? (1BB, .5BB, .13BB,)
Am I unsure if the play was a mistake or not? --> post on 2+2
Come to a conclusion --> I made 10 mistake worth .5BB or I got screwed over and over.

can you guys gimme a typical standard devation per hour for the 20-40 games at commerce?

In ace on the river, barry says a typical standard deviation in limit games is 10bb per hour, so I have just been using that for my bankroll calculations. I don't use statking, because that would just cause me to waste a ton of time staring at numbers instead of doing what love to do, which is to go on 13 hour posting binges on 2p2.

In a game like that I think your variance is going to run closer to 15 times maybe even 20 times. Depending on your style... more on the tight side closer to 10--more on the loose aggressive side closer to 20. I run at about 15 myself and I play quite aggressive.

that might be about right if your vpip is 11.

15 or so is more reasonable.

Out in Cali for the week. Wont get much south of San Fran. Played 15-30 @ Artichoke Joes (close to the airport) while waiting on vmacosta to pick me up. Won 200 in a foldy nitfest. Hopefully Bay 101 and The Oaks will offer more action.
