Default In position with a set

Borgata 10/20 from last week.

UTG is an okay player. Nothing fantastic. Knows the basics that you get from any book, free-card plays and such. I don't know how capable he is of folding TPTK/TP 2nd/3rdK type hands

Can't remember what my image was at the time. This was a must move and I had been playing there about an hour or two at most. I remember being rivered a bunch early on but was playing pretty solid.

Preflop: UTG raises, 2 folds, Mp calls, Hero calls with red 99, rest fold.

UTG range here is going to be pretty tight. TT+,AJo+,KQo, ATs,KJs

Flop: A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
UTG bets, MP folds, I raise, UTG calls

Turn: brick
UTG bets, Hero....

So I make the assumption that UTG likely has me on a FCP. Now I have to decide what he will do if I raise. Please remember these are not west coast aggressive games.

I know the hand is not interesting, but the wrong line can cost me 2BB on average

RAISE TURN.

90% of the time the UTG raiser has something like AK and doesn't want to give you a free turn card. If you mentioned the fact that he "knows about raising for free cards", you have to think this is part of his strategy... and hence, believes its part of everyone else's strategy.

Raise... he calls... he C/C's river... you win.

My biggest concern is does he fold AQ/J or in bet/fold mode with KK.

In the actual hand I called turn and raised river he called, I scoop. I felt like that was the safest option, but don't know if it was the best option.

it would really suck if the river came a spade and he decided to check.

I raise the turn all day. Looks like he doesn't want to give a free card to your "flush or open-end straight draw." Time to make it 40 - he releases a good ace never.

My games a little rusty, but whats the point of calling this PF if you're not ahead of any of UTGs range?

Does a cold call from some random MP player really make this profitable?
