Staying in uNL voluntarily

I've just recently acquired enough to begin taking stabs at 100NL but have been wondering from the beginning, what would be the advantages to sticking at 50NL and lower? Is everyone's goal to move beyond micro stakes or are there some people here who wish to remain? If so, why?

I'm really curious to hear people's thoughts on this subject, so please, speak up.

wtf why would u stay in micro if you could beat higher limits for a slightly lower winrate? More money means more stuff, higher $/hr. [censored]!

I think I saw either AJ or 4_2_it stating that they stayed at NL200 because there is little stress and there is a comfort.

I think comfort is a nice thing, but you want to see the extents of your abilities. With the help of the forum and continuous practice I believe most get past NL 50, but a level up or higher are reasonable for settling in for most without a natural affinity for the game or a complete dedication to poker.

For me, I think that if I were to find a ceiling at 100 NL or 200 NL I would not be dissapointed. Those levels can offer a nice little sidejob for extras.

I actually hate the micro-limits. I'm only here because I'm not good enough as well as not properly rolled and I hope I can change both over time.

This is because, while it is profitable, I don't actually enjoy the irratic behaviour of my opponents. I get much more statisfaction from beating an opponent because I played correctly than I get from guessing if my opponent is retarded or not.

the advantage is you don't have to learn how to play if you stay at these limits, some ppl like that

Id say i'll probably be at 100nl for a long time once i get there. The skill level and therefore variance beyond there is so sick that I doubt I'd be able to handle it.

I just heard a player on a 5 buy in heater ,at FT 25NL explain the simplicity of being a micro stakes pro. I looked him up - (50/2/.8) - Win % @showdown 90%.

I was laughing pretty hard and then, hmm... I started thinking 8 tabling is about 500 hands and hour. 8PTBB/100 @ 8 tables = $20 an hour.

Trade in the wife, that's gotta be +EV. Kids can go live with grandma in Canada. The 6 yr old can do my Neteller withdrawals.

Now if I can only get my showdown win % off of this stupid 58%.

I plan to move up to NL100, but idk if I'm really interested in NL200. I'm trying to pay for school and goodies, not make a living.......

I took a shot at NL100 once, and after losing only 2.5 stacks I was done. $100 is just too much $$ for me to deal with the variance. If I hit a 10+ buy in downswing at NL100+ I would start breaking things and hurting people.

So everytime time my BR gets to $1100+ I cut a check back down to $1000, and always have a few 100's in the wallet for goodies thanks to poker. Once I'm done school and have a real job, then maybe $100 wont mean so much to me and I can move up (hmm 6+ more years till PhD. + US player = ok maybe online poker won't be here, ah well).
