Sounds like a big scam imo... Also matters what your Bank is, if your like 10/20+ player this seem's ok if he is a a decent friend of your's etc. Also talk to him because if he did steal why would he not go to jail.?

I thought this one was obvious. Many companies would prefer that a thief pay restitution as opposed to jail time. Obviously, they fire the guy and don't give a reference to a future employer. Pressing charges is not usually the first option they prefer (unless customers are involved or people are injured in a robbery).

Another thing is that CVS probably don't want the publicity. They don't want every petty thief in town to know it's possible to lift $6k from one of their stores.

I don't understand why there's even consideration of giving him $6K.

I'd understand if it was like in two days, and it would really have to be one of my very very closest friends for me to do this... pretty much like 2 people I know.

However, it's Nov. 8th... he needs the money in 2 months! If he can't get $6K in two months with the risk of jail hanging over his head, gg friend.

how are people supposed to come up with $6k without asking friends/family?

if OP feels some desire to help out, he should suggest the other friend organizes a syndicate of friends to bail him out, with each person contributing a few hundred to the loan. while there are definitely only a handful of people i'd loan 6k to for this, i would be willing to contribute a few hundred as part of a group for a lot of people.
