Right, and playing that up makes everybody involved seem like a self-important douchebag. Is that the vibe you want? I think part of the reason this forum has been reasonably successful is that ED generally does a good job of toning down that side of things.

It doesn't make one feel a self-important db [at least not me], especially when the criteria to get on the list isn't hard.

The reason this forum has been successful is because everyone thinks twice before posting a topic because they don't want to sound like an idiot to other posters. You think I give a damn if I were to post in BBV?

No, I think it's because the original 100 or so posters were most of the best OT posters here, and they set the culture. The ED cult of personality was also huge in attracting these people to post here in the first place. They didn't need to worry about posting stupid crap, because they already knew how to post. They set the tone, they become the regulars, and there you go.

In terms of OPs, I actually think EDGD frequently has worse OPs than a lot of other forums here. (EDIT: Let me rephrase that. I think EDGD OP's tend toward mediocrity. They're rarely bad, but they're rarely good. The discussion frequently turns out fine, though.)
