i very occasionally raise the flop but it depends on the player. most people I play online I don't know well enough to do this against because I table select well. the cap is absolutely awful though because the 3bet on this dry board almost always means he's seeing a showdown.

also kind of a nitty point to make but this is a semibluff and I think that makes a big difference.

Don't cap. I think that the times to do this is when you have a strong draw, like OESD or FD when you will hit often enough to make it worth it for the times that you cbet the turn and he doesn't fold. I think there are probably times to do this play but I think it's got to be vs the right opponent. If you've seen a LAG go way to far with a weak hand or if he tries a lot of bluff raises and such then maybe it's worth it. Personally I don't do this unless I've got a lot of outs. Maybe something like a FD + gutshot with 1 or 2 overcards.

Think about if you were at the table and you saw a villain cap the flop and then fold to a turn donk. You'd probably think "WTF". I think that WTF plays are very rarely +EV.

Honestly I think this is pretty horrible. The flop raise is ok sometimes, but after he 3-bets he is never ever folding.

if I am villain here with a hand that I want to put further action in with I'm going to c/r the turn after being capped on the flop

I get more bets out of a worse hand, and why should I be scared of a free card play?

I agree. But you still see a lot of turn donks here with good hands.

@ OP. I really hate your play if you dont have any reads. The flop cap is only for players where you have a legitimate reason to think he will fold.

I dont mind the flop raise at all. People are stealing a LOT from the SB so taking a stand on A high flops with a draw is pretty fine IMO.

flop raise is okay sometimes. flop cap is never. are you trying to free card an isd in a pot that had 2BB in it on the flop?

oh, and he'll never fold this in a blind battle.
