Default check call, check call, open shove. WHAT?!

I thought T8 could be in his range, until I realized that I had 2 of the T's. So.... J9 maybe? I really don't know here.

Villian is 17/3/.5 and i'm at about 18/16/3

Probably some flop pair that backdoored a flush. Maybe JJ. Either way, it's an instafold against someone with those stats.

I just replied to a hand similar to this. Not sure if it was yours also. But my read is similar here. A lot of time the people limping, then calling raises preflop are people holding medium pocket pairs looking to flop a set. I know I personally do that quite often, and would play a flopped set similar to this sometimes. Let you lead at me, then call. See if you'll fire again, you do, great. Personally, I'd raise the set on the turn, but I've seen lots who wouldn't. Instead they feel they're luring you further in by only calling again and shoving the river.

Based on the stats and the way the hand played, not sure you're even asking about this, but fold. I'm assuming you did and just want to know what he did that with.

I of course folded, but it seems like I get into this spot so frequently that folding all of the time almost seems wrong as it's just happening too often. Maybe my opponents are runnin a little hot these past 6k hands or so.

Does your answer change at all if there is a FD on the flop that doesn't hit the turn?

When someone with those stats starts jamming money in the pot, I'm seriously considering folding anything that isn't the nuts.

That's a good question. Having a busted FD on board would definitely make a bluff seem more plausible. I think I would hope I'd noticed some pattern in his previous betting to put to use for this call/fold.

I think if the hand played the same except a flush draw that never came, I would call here. His placid calling looks like someone on the come, and if he really had the set then I guess I got worked over. The 2.5:1 on the river would tempt me too much.

His numbers make this a set almost always.
