I like rebuys in the sense if you find a few fish on your table you can bust them repeatedly rather than just once.
The disadvantage is in order to be high in the chip rankings at the end of the first break you'll have to be willing to take a lot of risks.

If you can handle bad beats (due to very loose aggressive players; rebuy tourneys can be very lucrative as the initial prize pool is often tripled due to the rebuys/add-ons. You should rebuy as soon as the tourney starts and be prepared to double rebuy at least once but sometimes up to 3-5 times if your bankroll can mange. (And almost always add-on at break).
Another big benefit of the rebuys is that you can accumulate enough chips that this can be played similar to a deep stack tourney after the rebuy period ends. It is not uncommon for players to have anywhere from t10k to t30k stacks at the break. If your bankroll can handle $20 mtts, try playing $3-5 R/A’s for the experience. HTH, Rod

[/ QUOTE ]I agree with this post except for the "if your roll can manage" part. If it will be tough financially and/or emotionally to bust 3 times in the rebuy period, don't play. You'll miss out on a ton of value if you're not willing to call an all in with Ax or 55 and rebuy if you lose.

At what point should one not add-on at the break? I played my first rebuy tourney lately (star 3+0.30) and had ~22000 at the break. Is adding on 2000 chips for 3$ worth it at that point?

Do rebuys offer more skill or more time to play in the tournament to win, please explain? I am so sick of putting 2-3 hours and then busting out and not placing on the money, are rebuys better and give you a much higher chance to be in the final table? Thank You

In rebuys, bad beats never happen! Ok seriously, on average rebuys are so much more profitable than regular FOs and it isn't close. In rebuys, people quit...leaving their dead $ in the pot. In rebuys, you often play deepstacked for a much longer period. In rebuys, people play above their bankroll as well, meaning bubbles are more profitable, etc. So yeah, rebuys are pretty profitable.
