Vengefully turning up a guy\'s cards 10x in a row after \"IWTSTH\"
I don't like it when people make me turn over my cards at showdown. If I bet last, I always show first, but if I call and muck, I want it to remain mucked.
Anyways, supposing someone turned up my cards, I was thinking of turning over their cards for the next say 10 hands that they showed down. Would that fly, or would the floorman tell me to go home or something? It's technically not breaking any rules, but they're under no obligation to allow me to play there. --------- edit: Two scenarios exist: A) I just tell the guy that I'll do that... this might cause a stink right away and I might not get to do it. B) I'll just start doing it and stop when the floorman tells me to. |

Leaving aside the dealer/floor reaction to this kind of thing... who is really getting tilted here? You, or the guy you're trying to screw with?
Honestly, if he doesn't care, you're just getting yourself all worked up and pissed off for no reason. So he asked to see your cards at showdown... and? If you're going to get that upset about this I would ask to see your cards at every showdown too, just to get you steaming. |

im getting pretty good at insta-flicking my cards into the muck when I know somebody has a propensity to do this.
MTU is right though, don't let it get under your skin. you will lose money. |

Re: Vengefully turning up a guy\'s cards 10x in a row after \"IWTSTH\"
I prefer the "Oh, what, these cards? Ok here" and bury them in the muck myself never to be found.
Something about IWTSTH(and a lot of other grimy [censored]) that really bothers me is that the player never EVER asks the other guy first. Honestly, just ask me, there's a reasonable chance I'll turn over my bottom pair. When you ask the dealer it just seems so cut throat. I wouldn't do the 10x thing, it just creates bad vibes at the table where most including myself are there to have a good time(even if that means doing nothing but listening to music and folding) |

Re: Vengefully turning up a guy\'s cards 10x in a row after \"IWTSTH\"
"IWTSTH" is extremely annoying. Most people seem not to realize that by invoking this rule it is tantamount to declaring that the player in question is cheating. What I do when I encounter such a player is tell them they are accusing someone of cheating and slowing down the game. If they do not understand this I elaborate.
The next step I take if it keeps occuring is to alert the floor privately. Although I have never had to do this. The last time it was a problem -- I play at Foxwoods -- someone was complaining about a IWTSTH guy and I told the complainer to call the floor if he feels something fishy is going on. Sure enough, the other guy called the floor. The floor at FW is pretty decent I think and he told the guy he could only invoke this rule once every four hours. The guy shut up. But you can always use the old-fashioned remedy: fire the cards into the muck. A cooperative dealer will get the drift and not let some idiot abuse the IWTSTH rule. It is always better to handle the situation like a gentleman. Sincerely explain to the floor your gripe away from the table and usually they will handle the situation. |

hmm
That sounds ok. I mean, I could even wait til the guy did it for the second time before I bothered talking to the floor. |

In all fairness, I sometimes involk IWTSTH, but only when someone puts in the last aggression and doesn't show their hand.

Perhaps the interpretation of this rule varies from room to room, but at the room I play at they normally do not let people to repeatedly invoke IWTSTH. I have seen the floor give out warnings on numerous occasions. Do you view this rule as protection against collusion or a way to gain information? or both? |

[/ QUOTE ] I can say from my own travels that I never see IWTSTH in the midwest anywhere but saw it all over in LA. For some reason I havent seen this in Vegas either (I play 2/5 and 5/10 NL when there at Bellagio and Wynn). IWTSTH irritated me a lot in LA and I probably wont go back to play there again due to that. If I lived there I would change my mind and adapt to it but since I dont, I wont be making any special trips to LA to play poker. I can say by the end of my last five day trip to LA I started to sit in the 4-6 seats and was great an getting my cards into the muck before a dealer had a chance to get to them. It just seems that for some reason IWTSTH is more popularly abused in some card rooms more than others, mostly due to the players in that area and their experience (or lack thereof) in playing poker |
