No, not anymore. Maybe 2 years ago. If I want to accuse you of cheating, I'll call the floor. If I want to see your hand, I'll invoke IWTSTH.

[/ QUOTE ]

Where do you play? Perhaps the interpretation of this rule varies from room to room, but at the room I play at they normally do not let people to repeatedly invoke IWTSTH. I have seen the floor give out warnings on numerous occasions.

Do you view this rule as protection against collusion or a way to gain information? or both?

[/ QUOTE ]

See my post above this - When I was in LA people used it to gain information, it was not a way to fight collusion. Just made it a different kind of poker.

I am happy to play in a room that doesnt let you abuse IWTSTH as it's annoying and I like mucking my losers.

In all fairness, I sometimes involk IWTSTH, but only when someone puts in the last aggression and doesn't show their hand.

It's so nice that you have that double standard.

Leaving aside the dealer/floor reaction to this kind of thing... who is really getting tilted here? You, or the guy you're trying to screw with?

Honestly, if he doesn't care, you're just getting yourself all worked up and pissed off for no reason.

So he asked to see your cards at showdown... and? If you're going to get that upset about this I would ask to see your cards at every showdown too, just to get you steaming.

[/ QUOTE ]

IWTSTH = BFD

I care less when someone invokes this rule on me. Big whoop. Much ado about nothing.

Most people seem not to realize that by invoking this rule it is tantamount to declaring that the player in question is cheating.

I'm all confused with this post. What happened 2 years ago?

I can say from my own travels that I never see IWTSTH in the midwest anywhere but saw it all over in LA. For some reason I havent seen this in Vegas either (I play 2/5 and 5/10 NL when there at Bellagio and Wynn).

[/ QUOTE ]
Wynn doesn't permit IWTSTH unless you make a case to the floor for why you think someone is colluding. Don't recall Bellagio's stance on this. And I heard a dealer at a Harrah's property the other day refuse an IWTSTH request claiming the rule had changed there, but I haven't asked a floor person to verify this (and I have seen no other IWTSTH attempts).

After years of playing, I can fire my hand deep into the muck from anywhere on the table. You should do the same if it bothers you so much. Remember too, most of these morons don't recall what you had 30 seconds later.

I have a good buddy who lives in BC, when he came home for the summer he was telling me how he played some live poker in BC.

He mentioned how he always asks to see the hands at showdown, and since its a casino rule he should be allowed. he mentioned how a lot of players were getting mad at him. I told him that if he did it to me I would knock his head off. I mean he claimed he did it for every showdown. After explaining it's real intention and when to use it, at that point he understood not to do it anymore.

Why not just simply make a snide remark.

Like ''Do you even know why your asking??''

Or

''You know your supposed to only ask if you suspect cheating in the hand right?''

Usually it gets the player off my back.

I don't trust any of my opponents. So, I always believe there is a possibility of cheating.

I wouldn't be ACCUSING you of cheating. I would be wanting to see the cards just to be sure. I would suspect that you were not cheating; but better safe than sorry.

However, I don't see how knowing what the cards being held were could ever be positive proof that someone cheated. So it is a bad rule to begin with.

You are accusing people of cheating, regardless. I just respond in the same way that I respond whenever someone accuses me of cheating. I will not be happy, but am OK with the accusation. However, if my cards do not provide solid evidence of collusion, then I fully expect an apology.

The last time someone invoked IWTSTH was when we were heads-up all the way (I raised PF and he was the only caller from the big blind). He rivered a straight. When he asked the dealer to see my hand, I asked him to give me half the pot since he obviously thought that we were a colluding team and he needed to share the loot with his partner.
