Default Running it twice as a psychological ploy...

Tight calling station raises at CO his standard 5x BB 'I've got Queens, Jacks or Kings!' I smooth call with AA.

The board is 2 4 5 rainbow.

CO bets pot.
I re-raise all-in hoping to get a call. The following dialog goes likes this:

CO: You got a straight?
Me: I wish.
CO: A set?
Me: Do you? (giving off a false tell by cracking my voice a bit)
CO: No.
Me: You got Kings or Queens?
CO: Yeah. Queens.
Me: (with a worried expression) Do you want to run it twice?

My buddy next to him explains how this works, etc. He goes into the tank for a minute. I'm hoping this is enough to convince him I have Jacks or worse.

CO: I'm making a good fold here. I know. (Mucks queens.)

Was I better off just shutting up, or was this a rare instance where this type of ploy fails?

why raise him all-in?.. If you know what he's got he prolly knows you know what he's got and therefore you must be able to beat QQ. It ain't rocket science.

Not that many players consistently think at level 2. Even less do it well.

If someone's asking me to run it twice BEFORE I CALL, I start wondering what's up. That just doesn't strike me as something someone who was actually worried would do before they know they're in trouble.

Everything that you did here exuded strength. your whole "I am weak" act is very transparant. even most inexperienced players know that "weak means strong and strong means weak"... and you should have just smooth called the flop bet.

I've seen him call several times with pocket 10s, 9s, jacks in similar situations with similar boards. I mention calling stations because after re-raises he tends to insta-call premium pocket pairs against even higher ones.

Unless he thinks that he knows you know he knows. Then you might be bluffing.

How big were your stacks? When you reraise all in what was in the pot and how much more did he have to call?
