seemingly, i tend to reaaaaally flub it in the big pots, often making donkey calls when i full well know i'm beat, and most of the time, come out ahead?

this is not confined to my online anti-doom-switch-plug-in either. witness, my single biggest [censored] up at the table, ever...and it happened this weekend:

live $1/$2 NLHE B&M, both villain and hero on ~60 (starting stacks). villain and hero are also good friends, work buddies, and play at the same home game, which makes the story even sweeter

hero limps utg w/ 2 black 8's

folded to villain who raises to $12, strangely it's folded to hero who calls.

flop is q 10 10, two hearts. check, bet $12, call. hero is pretty sure it's AK he's up against.

turn is another queen. check, all in for $36. hero is now almost positive it's ak and calls, proudly tabling the 8's, and sure enough, there's ak.

i let out a quiet "yessssss" that would have made napoleon dynamite proud.

the dealer puts an 8 up for the river, and i say "just for good measur......"...and slowly, only after the pot is already getting pushed in my direction, the wheels start turning..

i look over at villain, who is quietly shaking his head in disgust, and realize the table is in stunned silence.

"i guess that'll do wonders for my table image, huh?"

it was beautiful.

bonus brag: the only time my aces have gotten cracked in live games since the new year was the one time i slow played them.

i *heart* poker.
