no its not important. The last thing you want to do is to play a huge pot OOP. Its more important to steal blinds in position. If you want to defend blinds which is ok but only if you have a real real solid hand and that happens quite rare when you are in the blinds.

But when you get a real good hand in blinds i do think its important to take a stab at the pot so everyone is aware that your blinds are not for free.

i might be mincing words here, but reraising because it's +ev isn't necessarily "defending" your blinds

i think fly is referring to defending purely for defense.
