Re: The Poker Mindset
I'm bumping this because I was pointed towards the link. If you've already read and benefited from Feeney's Inside the Poker Mind, is The Poker Mindset still worth buying or not?

Re: The Poker Mindset
Yes. It's got enough in it to make it worth the $.
I personally think it's about the best book on the subject out there. As said above, it doesn't break new ground, as if there is any to break, but it takes a number of subjects that have been discussed and elaborates. Good book. CJ |

[/ QUOTE ] No. Instead, you should read Gambling Theory and Other Topics as a complement to Inside the Poker Mind. You'll learn ten times more by doing so. |

[/ QUOTE ] Feeney proposes that players take on an attitude that emphasizes making good decisions as opposed to being affected by short term fluctuations. GTAOT is the best work on fluctuations ever. |

Re: The Poker Mindset
The Poker Mindset is a good book, it has helped me identify a few problem areas in my game. It is quite dry and a bit of a chore to read however, I find myself only able to read small bits of it in a sitting.

Re: The Poker Mindset
Although its true about it being abit dry i have to admit the book has completley changed me as a player. I was bascially doing everything wrong that was outlined in this book and its helped me get over all of it.
It felt like it was written for me, but that doesnt mean the same for everyone. I would highly recommend it though. |

Re: The Poker Mindset
I read this book while i was on holiday, and there are some really good elements in there. Things i needed to understand better about the psycholog yof the game.
Although i feel in the book he goes over a few subjects too many times, i think hes just trying to drum in into us lol Definetly recommended by myself! |

Re: The Poker Mindset
I've read 30-40% in bits and pieces while freeloading at the book store. Based on this limited view, "The Poker Mindset" is geared more towards a beginning stage player or one who still displays tendencies to treat poker the way tourists treat craps or roulette.
Players who already take the game seriously and don't have any significant issue with emotional control may not get a lot of use out of this book. |
