One question though. I played halo and halo 2 in college so I never had an xbox live account. I would just play under their names. Do you have to pay a monthly fee? I bought the premium version and it seems to come with a silver membership. Is this free or a free trial? Is it worth it to get gold? Any advice would be appreciated.

On a side note, Halo is one of the few games, where I feel the single player campaign is just as fun as the multiplayer.

From what I recall reading, the second ranking system (the one based on experience) was implemented with the hopes that it would discourage players who were contemplating cheating from doing so.

Although it would take much longer than the highly skilled players, everyone that plays Halo 3 could conceivably reach the highest rank.

I believe your system came with 5 one month Gold trials. So when you create a Silver account, it should give you that option.

As for fees, you can choose to pay a monthly fee or a one time fee for 12 months. If you don't want to use a credit card, you can buy subscription cards in varying lengths of subscription time. Make sure you have a Windows Live account.

1) Everyone should check out bungie.net for their in-depth stats. Actually, it would be cool if people would post their pages here for everyone. Mine:

It's still early on, but you can see I'm best as a shotgun/melee player.

2) My friends and I are probably going to be playing lots of team MP. Last night there were 3 of us and we kept getting random partners when they'd go 4v4, evne having some partners stay on for a few matches. We have at least 2 more friends that will join us from time to time, but if you'd like to hop on an play with us for a bunch of matches, let me know here or add me to your friends list and join whenever you see me. I'll keep friends open on matchmaking if I'm starting them. We are Pacific timezone, a few evenings a week.

BTW, if you didn't know, you can add friends via your account on live.xbox.com. Much quicker than putting them in on the 360.
