Default Hardware/soundcard sound recorder

i'm looking for a program that will record sound passing through my soundcard. i found one program, here, but to register (which allows u to save) costs 25$. it does work, i just tested it.

this allows you to save songs from pandora, internet radio stations, etc and i'd personally rather be doing that than running uTorrent/[censored] (as should you)

does anyone have a freeware version of the type of program i'm looking for?

Audacity
You will also need LAME to be able to export the sound file as an mp3.

Both are Free and Open Source.
