Baseball and College Football Card/Dice Game
Back in the late 70s when I was a youngster, I wasted a lot of time playing some kind of card/dice game. The card (large sheet of paper) had stats on it with different options for pitching/batting, defense/offense and the dice determined the actual results of the plays. I know this is a little vague, but does anyone remember a game like this? (How did we survive without computers?)

You could pick a '50s Oklahoma football team vs a '70s Notre Dame team (don't remember the specific years). |

Re: Baseball and College Football Card/Dice Game
Bowl Bound and Superstars of Baseball. The black die had 3 threes, 2 twos, and 1 one. I remember 34 was the most common number, 19 was the least. They came out with teams of the 70's, which I never played with, and teams of the 80's as well. It was such a great game, I am suprised they never made a teams of the 90's. I would think it would translate to the computer very well.
On a side note, when I was about 17, I had rattled off about 15 straight wins. Of course we gambled, so I had my friends ENTIRE baseball card collection within my reach. I had him against the wall with a 4 point lead going into the last play. Play 9 for LSU gets by the defense. He needs to roll a 30 or 38 or lose what's left of his collection. I'm talking a Sandberg rookie, a Canseco rookie, a Gooden rookie, plus many others. Of course he rolled the 38, then went on to win about 15 in a row himself. |

Re: Baseball and College Football Card/Dice Game
I'm definitely thinking Bowl Bound is the college football game
I still have it. They came out with additional teams every 10-15 years or so. I'd spend hours playing this as a kid. I miss being 7 oh yeah, I had similar baseball, basketball, college bball and pro football games. No wonder I think I can outmanage some current guys....I've got thousands of games under my belt |

Re: Baseball and College Football Card/Dice Game
The baseball/basketball games I played were from the Statis Pro series. I give two big thumbs up. I believe Bill James was behind alot of the Statis Pro baseball material. Apparently, I was into sabermetrics at the age of 5 and in the 80s....lol |

Re: Baseball and College Football Card/Dice Game
and this was the basketball game
I used to miss school and play these most of the day. Then go outside and play ball of some sort. I guess I've just substituted poker for the old games |
