I like it, but it's not really to be had if you are thirsty, which makes it a very strange beverage indeed. The damn stuff is just sooo salty!

I can eat ketchup plain, but don't like tomato juice. Sunday morning bars seems to be able to serve alcohol before 8 AM on Sunday (or something as crazy) if they serve it mixed with juice - so bloody mary's and mimosa's are popular, but I always go mimosa.

The relevance is you've never tasted a Bloody Mary. The rest is decidedly irrelevant.

Have you ever seen someone prepare a steak? It's [censored] disgusting, with all the blood-like juice splashing everywhere. But, shockingly, steaks taste goot.

[/ QUOTE ]
First, preparing a steak involved very little blood unless your preparation starts with a living cow. Second, there's a big difference between unprepared food that is cooked (chemically altered) during preparation and food that is not, clearly steak falls into one category and a bloody mary falls into the other. Third, there's a strong correlation between smell and taste and I think bloody marys smell terrible. I've had each of the ingredients in a bloody mary on individually and the idea/smell of them combined does not appeal to me at all.

I really can't imagine that you couldn't figure this stuff out on your own.

Did I say blood? Oh yeah, I said "blood-like." I really can't imagine that you couldn't figure this stuff out on your own.

Ah, the "chemically altered" defense. A mere red herring to the fact you have never tasted a Bloody Mary, yet you wrote with confident authority that the drink doesn't taste delicious.

I went ahead and put the relevant words in bold there, in case you couldn't figure this stuff out on your own.

So what? Correlate schmorrelate. Have you tasted a Bloody Mary?

Because you have not, you do not know whether a Bloody Mary tastes delicious, or whether it tastes nothing like sausage, which -- unless you couldn't figure this stuff out on your own -- is also "chemically altered."

I like tomatoes.

I love ketchup.

I love tomato sauce (ie: spaghetti sauce, marinara, etc.).

I find tomato juice and similar stuff (V8) disgusting.

All,

Anyone ever have bloody marys from Vegas casinos? Do Bellagio or Mandalay Bay make decent ones?

[/ QUOTE ]

Olive quality is often very poor at the casinos, which is a huge problem. A mushy olive can ruin an otherwise quality Mary. It's key to ask for a bottle of Tabasco when ordering, add enough and you can cure anything.

[/ QUOTE ]

FYP. I'm pretty sure I could stomach chilled ferret crap if it were covered in Tobasco.

[/ QUOTE ]

Have to agree on this one. Tabasco is overpowering for the vinegar alone. (I don't really think it's that hot.)
