5/10 99 - standard?

saw flop|[saw showdown BB ($1900) UTG ($829) UTG+1 ($942) MP1 ($1112) Hero ($1032) CO ($185.25) Button ($935) SB ($990) Preflop: Hero is MP2 with 9  , 9 . 3 folds, Hero raises to $30, CO calls $30, 2 folds, BB raises to $130, Hero calls $100, CO calls $100. Flop: ($395) 9  , 7, Q (3 players)BB bets $230, Hero raises to $902, CO calls $55.25 (All-In), BB calls $672. Turn: ($2254.25) 6 (3 players, 1 all-in)River: ($2254.25) J (3 players, 1 all-in)Final Pot: $2254.25 This hand occured within my first orbit at the table. I reckognize the villain as a winning mid/high stakes player who was 8-tabling 5/10 at the time. We have no previous history together so I doubt he knows anything about my game. I thought my play in this hand was standard, but a friend who's opinion I respect thought I wasn't getting sufficent implied odds to call preflop and disagreed with the flop push. My questions are is this preflop call standard and how would you play it after the flop?

PF is close in position its standard though just bluff every once in a while. rest is pretty standard although I call flop most of the time especially against an aggressive player capable of 2 barrels.

[/ QUOTE ] PF is definitely close, i was torn between calling and folding. I don't quite understand why you suggest bluffing, would you mind elaborating? On the flop, I don't see him folding an overpair to a push, while he might get suspicious if i flat call. On the other hand, there isn't a flush draw out there, so he can't put me on a semibluff.

Flop decision was definitely easier, pushing seems superior to calling

Another point I forgot to mention in my original post is what led me to call preflop instead of fold. The shortstack in the CO was a donk and was almost definitely calling off the rest of his stack on this hand. This led me to believe it was more likely the BB had a big hand than a bluff. I was pretty sure he would pay off on the flop with an overpair after putting over 10% of his stack in preflop, so my implied odds were sufficient. I do have to give him credit though, he used up almost all of his timebank and very nearly folded.

I think you are beat.. preflop is questionable indeed, postflop.. I think reraising on the flop was nok.. i would have waited till the turn.. action is too strong.. you are either way behind or way ahead. the turn would have told you told.. bu calling you dont loose anything, by going all in you take a coin toss.

[/ QUOTE ] You think I'm beat?? I'm definitely ahead here much more often than I'm behind. There is no way I can consider folding this hand at any point, 100BB in a reraised pot is not deep enough to fold middle set.
