Wipe Personal Info?
I just changed jobs and now have to return my work laptop. I didn't get a Windows CD (or any CD's for that fact) so can't reinstall anything. I want to get as much personal info off as possible. The computer is and Acer Aspire 7110 running Vista if that matters.
Thanks, NZ |

Re: Wipe Personal Info?
one thing you could do is delete all your personal info, then copy and paste some giant file over and over again until the HD is full. That should remove any trace of your data I think - just make sure you don't use a high res kiddie porn file for this.

Re: Wipe Personal Info?
What about something like System Mechanic (Pro)? I've not tried it myself but it comes with something called drivescrubber which claims to "securely erase data from your hard drive"
You can download a free evaluation version so no harm in trying I suppose |

Re: Wipe Personal Info?
Theres a number of programs available online that will do this for you by overwriting the data numerous times so its pretty much impossible to read anything from it.
Try download.com and google for some good ones. |
