I'm 28 and people call me sir pretty regularly.

I'm waiting for someone to call me "Lord", though. Maybe when I start getting greys.

I usually say sir to everyone, out of respect and manners but the best is when I say "Sir" sarcastically to a young punk at the poker table. It's really quite funny and usually gets chuckles from the older gents at the table.

I hate it when guys get offended when I call them sir.
"Don't call me sir. My father is called sir." The title "sir" is a sign of respect. If you are telling me not to call you sir, then you are telling me not to respect you, and that you don't respect yourself.

Homer Simpson: But Marge... valets! For once maybe someone will call me "sir" without adding "you're making a scene."

i almost made a post about this a while back about how i think it's really strange that older people call me sir all the time. i'm 22 and older ppl show me much more respect than they should. it's just weird to have a 50 year old guy act like he's beneath me (at a nice restaurant, the doormen at apartments, etc).

I'm called sir from time to time, but not that often (I'm only 19).

I call nearly everyone sir, all because of poker.

I say sir to everyone. It's just a simple thing to say to show a sign of respect. When you're nice to people like that, it definitely comes back to you and people are more receptive.

It's just the same as holding a door open for someone after you walk through the door or holding an elevator for someone you see wanting to get on, etc.
