new problem. Hitting off the toe of the club face
Well, I solved my old problem of hitting too much off the heel of the club. Now I consistently hit off the toe. WTF?? Any tips?

Re: new problem. Hitting off the toe of the club face
Rotate your right shoulder and hip through the hitting zone aggressively.
Make sure you finish with the right shoulder closer to the target than the left. |

Re: new problem. Hitting off the toe of the club face
There was a drill in this months golf digest for this exact problem.
Put a tee in the ground and address it like you would the ball. Then put another tee in the ground about 1 club head further away from your body from the first tee. It should look something like this... (ignore the periods) .....* <-- This tee is about 1 inch behind the original tee ...... ...... <-- This distance is 1 club head ...... ...*.. <-- Original tee Address the original tee that's closest to you like it were a ball and you were going to hit it. But when you swing try to hit the tee second, further away, tee. The point of the drill was to focus on arm extension through the down swing and at impact. |

Re: new problem. Hitting off the toe of the club face
I have problems like this that creep in (mostly with my wedges).
The first thing I do is get out a roll of masking tape, tape the club face. Now hit 2-3 balls and see where I'm hitting it. I swear there are times I think it's the toe and it's actually the hosel. I've found that sometimes it is how close I'm standing to the ball but also how steep the angle of my swing is. Going through this process has actually been my greatest increase in ball striking ability ever. It's great feedback to see exactly where you are hitting the ball. |

Re: new problem. Hitting off the toe of the club face
Troll - I have black face clubs (cue joke responses now). Not only are they gangster, but the ball leaves a mark on the club face every time so I know exactly where I hit, or mis-hit as the case may be.
Troll - just got back from the driving range. I was having my usual struggle hitting off the toe. Then I remembered your suggestion so I started addressing the ball so that at address the ball was just barely touching the toe. My gosh what a difference. I was puring it every time. I felt like I could really attack the ball. Hopefully this will carry over to the course. |
