I'm tempted to say both : )

I've seen him push with trips here so no he's not always going to pot river with an eight. In the long run I think folding when he does this is the best and I do think there is a long run; he definitely doesnt do this EVERYtime.

Obviously a lot of what your decision should be lies in whether or not he thinks you'll call a bet of this size and with what and just your image in general and how the game has been going up til now. Not sure what you're asking exactly but I can say that this is a fold more often than not when he does it against me...maybe I'm too cally : )
