I banned him and I guess the 6 hours away from 2+2 made him go off the deep end.

Assani - You're a poet!

Took me a while to figure it out (maybe because of your unique style).

Maybe you're just ahead of your time and destined to express yourself to a largely unappreciative audience.

But if we read your words as poetry, they make sense - at least as much sense as most poetry makes.

[ QUOTE ]
Let X equal the quantity of all quantities of X.

Let X equal the cold.

It is cold in December. The months of cold equal November through February. There are four months of cold, and four of heat, leaving four months of indeterminate temperature.

In February it snows. In March the Lake is a lake of ice. In September the students come back and the bookstores are full.

Let X equal the month of full bookstores.

The number of books approaches infinity as the number of months of cold approaches four.

I will never be as cold now as I will in the future. The future of cold is infinite. The future of heat is the future of cold.

The bookstores are infinite and so are never full except in September.

Think you're so big like the guy who brings the cans to the opera and makes fun of the guys with the broken bottles.

[/ QUOTE ]Niss - Thanks.

I actually kind of liked it. Had some beauty to it, somehow, some serenity.

The movie "proof" comes on TV sometimes. I'll watch it for those lines the next time I notice it listed. (I realize the quote might not be in the movie).

Thanks. You continue to amaze me with your broad range of knowledge.

I thought if you just stayed put, you'd wake up naked in the jungle with the ability to see the future. Sounds like a good trade to me.

Hi Niss - I watched the movie "Proof" about an hour ago. Not sure why I never watched it before.

Indeed the lines were there, just as you indicated. (Scroll down a ways 'til you get to my post there).

Although I guess it wasn't intended to be a poem at all, the words seemed sort of poetic to me when I read them in Assani's post. Shows you what I know about poetry.

But then in the context Gwenneth Paltrow spoke the lines in the movie, they were tragically insane - not poetic at all.

Assani wrote something about Icy Pots in the low content thread of the September Omaha-8 forum that seemed like a parody of a complex scientific explanation. (Scroll down a ways 'til you get to the last post on the page). I thought it was wryly amusing, but if you tried to make sense out of it you'd run into a brick wall.
