For fun, I liked the Limelight on Alhambra between J and K. It's a decent bar with 4 tables in back, with 3/6 and 4/8. It's got nice atmosphere, good beer, and horrible players.

The biggest room in the city proper is Capital Casino on 16th downtown, with about 10 tables. They have higher limits (12/24?), and is more like a typical california card room in feel. For NL I've heard good things about the Lucky Derby in Citrus Heights, but I've never been there.

Capital plays up to 9/18. It's probably the nicest room in Sacramento, but nothing special. 3/6 and 4/8 games are full of awful players, but then again, it's 3/6 & 4/8.

Not the best of neighborhoods, but be careful and you'll be OK.

Nothing wrong with the neighborhood. In addition to the listed rooms, there is also Phoenix Casino located in Citrus Heights. They have 4-8, NL, Omaha, and 10-20 going most nights.

Capitol runs a 12-24 on Fri-Sat also.

My favorite place in the Sacramento metro area is the Folsom Lake Bowl. They have electronic tables now, and play 1/2 200 max NL around the clock. They also have some low buy-in tournaments. A tournament broke out at 2am this morning, about 30 players, $20 buy-in. It is comperable to the Limelight in terms of beer and women, but the games are better and with the electronic tables you get about twice as many hands per hour.

Parking sux at the Capital Casino. The games have 3 blinds, dealer forced bb. They take the drop before the flop but I can't remember if it is returned for no-flop. I do remember the 3/6 drop is the entire bb and sb leaving the dealer action in the pot. The games are kill with the 3/6 becoming a 4/8 with the kill on, the others may be full kill.

Not too much info on their website http://www.capitol-casino.com/default.asp Other area casinos here: http://500nations.com/Sacramento_Casinos.asp

The Capitol quit using the button-forced blind a few months ago.

Jackson is the only 18+ casino that I am aware of for several hours' drive.

Thanks for the info ya'll.. I've now got several places to play poker while I'm in town. I'll be there three nights in a couple of weeks.

Any good blues bars with live music I should check out?
