Default And there I was like a deer in headlights

I was playing a 2-5 game, and the dealer asked if anyone wanted to deal for a second while he took a short break. I was real stuck so I decided I'd take a second to cool off and deal. Big pot starts forming J59 on flop, 25 bet one call, Q on turn, 125 bet/call, 9 on river, check, allin for 702. So the guy sits there and thinks for a second. Then asks "you going to show me if I fold?" the girl nods. He turns over a Q and tosses it into the board and says "I've got a queen" the girl nods and puts her cards forward face down (past "the line" but not into the muck). The guy now shows his other card (5) and demands that his he gets the pot. The girl doesn't show her hand, but instead protests and says that he didn't say "call", and because he put his hand in the muck (even though it was face up) it's dead now. And they look at me. I think "what the hell did I get myself into" and yell for the manager, but apparently he had taken that moment to step out. So I went over the hand with the people involved, made sure they knew what happened, and in the end they decided just to chop the pot.
What was the right call here?
Who should I have awarded the pot?

(I'm aware that I shouldn't have been dealing in the first place, and I will never make that mistake again)

The guy never called in my opinion and is now trying to angle shoot as its his only way to win the hand.

Default hellew welcome to reality

When I first started I just read a book, practiced shuffling a little and assumed my years of playing would make me good at it. Boy was I wrong. My first half hour I was terrified. My third down was omaha-8 with a half-kill, which I pretty muck f-ed up royally. It's a LOT harder than you think. Than you've got the players trying heir best to find every single shade of grey possible. Welcome to the club, club reality that is.

The girl gets the pot. he folded. He tossed his card into the muck without calling the bet and this caused her to believe he had folded and reveal her hand. This is not even a close call.

why the [censored] were you dealing? was this in some sort of private home game?

since this is B&M i assumed it was in a CASINO that would get shut down real fast if a player were to suddenly be found dealing a game because the dealer had to use the bathroom...

am i wrong? what am i missing?

What your missing is that not all card rooms are licensed and regulated.
