Default Flopped Top full - deep 2/5NL

This hand happened last year, just wanted to get some ideas

Wynn 2/5
UTG is an older man, plays straightforward semi-tight weak stack of ~700
Button is new player to game, the young kid whipped out huge roll to cover my stack.
I appear LAG but have been in line most of the time (playing a lot of hands but not for big raises)

UTG raises to 25
Hero calls in middle pos with 88
Button calls
BB calls

Flop (~100) 4h 8h 4s
Checks around
Turn (~100) 6h
UTG bets $50
Hero calls
Button calls
River (~250) Jh
checked to hero who bets $200
Button raises to $500
UTG raises all in $675 total
Hero?

How deep are you and how is this a decision. You are lucky they got there so you can get it in.

id probably raise the turn to 125 and get all in on any river. You want to just call here i think thats terrible.

edit: i believe he can reraise you, he raised 300, and the all in was for 175 more, which is more than half of the last raise thus reopening the betting. someone correct me if im wrong.

Shove and hope the button calls.

Based on your description of the guy, I guess it is possible that UTG mucked up JJ so badly, but most of the time I think he has just waited too long to bet his overpair.

Button should have one of four possible hands--although he may just be trying to take the pot away--and you can beat any of them. All-in, all-in, all-in...

Depends on the casino. Where I play, the raise, even from an all-in, has to be at least the amount of the bet or previous raise for someone else to reraise.

I shoved, button made "crying call" after whining about me having the straight flush or pocket 4s, and showed JJ.

Before i made my move i played the hand back and thought I was sure he would have played JJ differently. (UTG showed Khearts for second nut flush)

Is there a way I could have played it to get JJ out before he hit, and still make $$?

My thoughts fwiw:

From your read of UTG I guess much of his range after his flop check is AK/AQ. Button could have a wide range here and your only read suggests he might be aggressive. So, it's unlikely the next card will put you behind, it could improve UTG/button and button may bet - so some positives for slowplay. However, UTG may not stack off if he improves with AK given your read and if another H comes it could either kill action or be difficult to build massive pot even against the flush with a paired board. Also, you have a LAG image so your hand is more disguised. So I would bet about $70 on the flop - flush draws may call given stacks.

Turn: Given your read, UTG now has either a lone big H and is trying to pick up the pot cheaply or hopefully a flush (less likely). Button doesn't seem interested in the pot. Time to bet here. UTG may figure his flush draw and 2 overs are all outs so you can bet accordingly - make it $150 giving him $100 to call into a $300 pot planning to push any A/K or H river and make a smallish bet otherwise.

River: Given his river call the button has something - my guess would be another big lone H. When he raises the river here I think as likely to have 66/Ah than JJ/44/53hh here. I raise all-in.

So your slowplay worked in a sense in that you allowed UTG to improve and got his stack in. However, you could probably have achieved the same result with at least a turn bet. Even if JJ did call that then you are probably still long term +EV.

Sundance- thanks for the input. You really summed it up well. I think the turn is where i could have pushed a bit more.
